President Prabowo Embarks on Key Diplomatic Mission to UN General Assembly, Canada, and the Netherlands

JAKARTA, Indonesia (September 19, 2025) – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, departed for New York, United States, on Friday night, to lead the Indonesian delegation at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The visit, as outlined by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, is a pivotal agenda for the nation's diplomacy on the global stage.

According to a written statement released by Cabinet Secretary Teddy, President Prabowo is scheduled to deliver a national statement during the UNGA General Debate. “Based on the received schedule, President Prabowo is slated to speak third in the order of speakers at the UN General Debate on September 23, 2025, following the Presidents of Brazil and the United States,” Seskab Teddy stated.

The Cabinet Secretary emphasized the strategic significance of Indonesia's participation in this year's assembly. “This year's UN General Assembly is a crucial momentum for Indonesia, not only to once again appear at the highest level of the UN forum but also to affirm Indonesia's position as a leader of the Global South, consistently voicing the agenda for reforming global governance to be more just and inclusive,” he explained.

The President's itinerary extends beyond the diplomatic engagements in New York. Following his address at the UN, President Prabowo will embark on a series of official state visits to strengthen bilateral ties.

“After New York, President Prabowo will continue his official visit to Ottawa, Canada, on September 24, 2025, to hold a meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada. Subsequently, on September 26, 2025, the President will proceed to The Hague, the Netherlands, for meetings with the King and the Caretaker Prime Minister of the Netherlands,” revealed Cabinet Secretary Teddy.

En route to the UN headquarters, the President will also make a brief stop in Japan. “Before heading to New York, President Prabowo will refuel the aircraft for several hours in Osaka, Japan, and use the opportunity to visit the Indonesian Pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka,” Teddy concluded.

This multi-nation tour underscores the Prabowo administration's active and strategic foreign policy, focusing on reinforcing Indonesia's leadership role among developing nations while bolstering key bilateral partnerships with traditional allies. The world will be watching closely for the substance of the President's UN address, which is expected to outline Indonesia's vision for a more equitable global order.
