Bantuan ini diberikan sebagai bagian dari program perlindungan sosial untuk membantu masyarakat menghadapi tekanan ekonomi dan menjaga daya beli rumah tangga berpenghasilan rendah.

Menurut keterangan resmi dari Kementerian Sosial (Kemensos), BLT ini disalurkan kepada masyarakat yang terdaftar dalam Data Terpadu Kesejahteraan Sosial (DTKS). Penyaluran dilakukan melalui Bank Himbara, seperti BRI, BNI, Mandiri, dan BTN, serta kantor pos di seluruh Indonesia.
